I was born in Scotland and grew up in Edinburgh, where my art path took its first steps in the form of a creative soul, who’s most valuable possessions were her colour pencils and sketch books. My creativity has always taken me to a special space, a different world to the everyday one. Sometimes I've used my paintbrushes to heal what needed healed and to process the life within me and at other times I’ve used them to depict the pure pleasure that nature brings me.
Thanks to a life of foreign travel, I’m fortunate to have been exposed to a vibrancy of cultures, in particular the creative flavours of the Middle East and West Africa. The visual element of these travels, as well as the experience of the life and people there, have added layers to my art and my painting process.
In the last two years I have relocated to this magical island of Mallorca and am delighted to call Valldemossa my home. As soon as my feet touched down on this amazing land I knew that this iridescent place would be the thing to carry my art on its next journey. My paintings have evolved remarkably in only a short time of living here. I now find that my brushes seem to dip into the magic of the sky and to translate that feeling to the painting. Its a lot less about me, the artist, and much more about painting a joy for life. A glimpse of the sun's rays through a cluster of leaves can reveal an entire painting to me, as though heaven and earth are brought together. I love translating the magical shimmer of Mallorca to my work.
I hope that my paintings bring pleasure and that they are able to transport the viewer to the stillness that is so often found in nature.
